Senators acquire Sutton from Islanders

The Ottawa Senators have acquired veteran defenseman Andy Sutton from the New York Islanders for a 2010 second-round draft pick.

Sutton, 34, has registered four goals, eight assists and 73 penalty minutes in 54 games with the Islanders this season.

In 567 career NHL regular-season games with the San Jose Sharks, Minnesota Wild, Atlanta Thrashers and Islanders, Sutton has accumulated 34 goals and 101 assists for 135 points, as well as 984 penalty minutes.

The draft pick the Islanders acquired originally belonged to the San Jose Sharks.
