The Ottawa Senators finally dipped into the free agent market today, reportedly signing unrestricted free agent right wing Alex Kovalev to a two-year contract worth $10 million.

Senators GM Bryan Murray will address the media at 4:40pm ET.

Kovalev spent the last five-seasons as a member of the Montreal Canadiens. Last season, he registered 26 goals and 39 assists for 65 points in 78 games.

Last year's NHL All-Star Game MVP has accumulated 394 goals and 547 assists for 941 points in 1,151 career NHL games with the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Canadiens.

He was originally drafted 15th overall by the Rangers in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft.
