With six weeks to go before the March 4 trade deadline, the Ottawa Sun reports Senators GM Bryan Murray could begin selling off some of his players.
While Murray hasn't officially declared himself a seller, he is expected to listen to a number of offers from playoff-contending teams.
According to the Sun, the Senators are getting inquiries about forwards Jason Spezza, Mike Fisher, Antoine Vermette and Chris Neil, and defenseman Christoph Schubert.
The team is also expected to be dangling the likes of winger Jarkko Ruutu and defenseman Filip Kuba, who could receive plenty of attention as so many teams are searching for a mobile defenseman.
The Edmonton Oilers are believed to be interested in Fisher, while the Columbus Blue Jackets are eyeing Spezza.
From the Editor: There are a lot of teams interested in what the Senators have available, and I'd suspect guys like Kuba and Ruutu will be dealt before the deadline. If the Senators can get a solid return for someone like Fisher or Spezza, they'll take a serious look. I wonder if the Blue Jackets are serious about packaging Pascal Leclaire, if that would be enough to lure the Sens into parting with Spezza. -- David Pagnotta.
