The Ottawa Senators have signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Jason Smith to a two-year, $5.2 million contract.
Smith, 34, was mulling over a number of offers before agreeing to join the Senators.
The 14-year NHL veteran registered one goal, nine assists, 86 penalty minutes and 204 blocked shots in 77 games with the Philadelphia Flyers last season.
In 945 career NHL games with New Jersey, Toronto, Edmonton and the Flyers, Smith has accumulated 40 goals, 128 assists and 1,052 penalty minutes.
