Senators looking to be buyers

TheFourthPeriod.com

With some holes to fill on their roster, the Senators could be extremely active today as they try to lure free agents, reports the Ottawa Sun.

According to the paper, the Senators will focus on obtaining a top-two defenseman, a backup goalie and a couple of depth forwards.

It has been widely reported that the Senators will pursue puck-moving defenseman Brian Campbell, but the Sun notes if his price tag climbs over $7 million, the team might back off.

"I don't know what the numbers are (for Campbell) at this point in time, but if the numbers are what I hear they are, it would be almost impossible," Sens GM Bryan Murray told the Sun.

If the Senators can't sign Campbell, they'll pursue Michael Rozsival and Ron Hainsey.

Between the pipes, the Sun claims the Senators will go after Alex Auld, while David Aebischer and Ty Conklin remain options.
