Redden, 30, will become an unrestricted free agent July 1 and isn't expected to take a significant pay cut. He made $6.5 million this past season.
Once Redden hits the open market, a number of teams are expected to be hot on his tail. Sources tell TFP the Chicago Blackhawks plan on pitching him an offer July 1, while the Citizen suggests the Florida Panthers will also pursue him.
Even if the Senators don't want him, Redden will still be a hot commodity on the market this summer, and he would likely take little or no cut in pay.
Senators center Chris Kelly will also become a UFA July 1 and it's uncertain if the team will be able to re-sign him before he hits the open market.
Meanwhile, the Citizen reports Craig Hartsburg could be hired to coach the Senators.
Hartsburg's five-year contract to coach the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League is coming to an end, and he's believed to be one of several candidates for the Senators' vacant head coaching position.
