Rangers could want D for Del Zotto
TheFourthPeriod.com

If the Rangers end up trading defenseman Michael Del Zotto, they're likely to require a defenseman coming back the other way, according to multiple reports.

Both the Ottawa Sun and New York Post are reporting that a defenseman is likely required in exchange for shipping Del Zotto out of the Big Apple.

Del Zotto, 23, has tallied one goal and three assists for four points in 18 games for the Rangers so far this season.

He has been the subject of numerous trade rumors over the last two years and is expected to be dealt at some point this season.

Drafted 20th overall by the Rangers in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Del Zotto's best offensive campaign game in 2011-12 when he tallied 10 goals and 31 assists for 41 points.

With defensemen Dan Girardi and Anton Stralman set to become unrestricted free agents next summer, the Post claims the Rangers will need a defenseman for Del Zotto as an insurance policy, if either Girardi or Stralman leave.
