Del Zotto could end up traded

The New York Rangers have been actively shopping defenseman Michael Del Zotto, as GM Glen Sather would like to add a top-six forward to the roster.

Del Zotto, 23, has been scratched from the Rangers' last three games, enhancing speculation that a deal is on the way.

In 16 games with the Rangers so far this season, Del Zotto has registered one goal and three assists for four points.

Several teams have inquired about Del Zotto's services, including the Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes.

On the Insider Trading segment on TSN Tuesday evening, Hockey Insider Darren Dreger indicated "at least five or six teams have inquired about scenarios" for Del Zotto.

Pierre LeBrun of TSN and ESPN also reported that the Senators were interested in the Stouffville, Ontario native, saying "Del Zotto is on that list of players on their radar."

Drafted 20th overall by the Rangers in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Del Zotto's best offensive campaign game in 2011-12 when he tallied 10 goals and 31 assists for 41 points.

The Rangers have inquired about San Jose Sharks right wing Martin Havlat, who has a no-movement clause, but those talks didn't go anywhere.

Sather wants to add a scoring forward to the roster, though it's unclear how close he is to making a move.
