Callahan to miss 3-4 weeks

As if the start of the season wasn't tough enough on the New York Rangers, but club announced Thursday that their captain will miss the next 3-4 weeks with a broken thumb.

Rangers captain Ryan Callahan broke his thumb during Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Washington Capitals and could miss up to a month of action.

Callahan, 28, has scored three goals in his last two games after going goalless in his first three games.

The Rangers currently sit 2-4-0 to start the 2013-14 campaign, having only scored a total of 11 goals.

Callahan missed the first game of the season while recovering from off-season shoulder surgery.
