The Rangers have reportedly proposed a contract offer with a cap hit believed to be around $2.2 million to $2.5 million per season.
"He'll come to his senses," Sather said. "Our offer is what it is. You can't negotiate against yourself."
The young blueliner led the Blueshirts' defense corps with 10 goals and 31 assists for 41 points in 77 games last season.
Meanwhile, Sather was not as blunt when asked about the looming lockout, though he stated that he feels confident a new CBA can be settled in a timely manner.
"I've been down this walk a few times, I'm always optimistic," Sather added.
