Antropov looking for 5-year deal

TheFourthPeriod.com

According to various reports, impending unrestricted free agent forward Nik Antropov is looking for a five-year contract worth around $5 million per season.

The New York Rangers acquired Antropov from the Toronto Maple Leafs at the trade deadline on March 4.

Antropov plans on testing the free agent market tomorrow, but the Rangers might still be in play having traded Scott Gomez and his large $7.35 million contract earlier today.

"He's definitely going to hit the market because the Rangers have no space to sign him," Antropov's agent, Mark Gandler, told ESPN.com Tuesday morning.

From the Editor: With Scott Gomez now in Montreal, the Rangers might have some extra cash to spend on players, but it might not be Antropov. The Rangers have been talking to the Ottawa Senators about Dany Heatley, but failing that they'd have the cash to spend on Antropov, whom they like. -- David Pagnotta.
