Rangers sign Naslund, Kalinin TheFourthPeriod.com
The New York Rangers have signed unrestricted free agents Markus Naslund and Dmitri Kalinin, TFP has confirmed.
"Initially, there was quite a few teams contacting me and my agent. I gave him instructions early on that there was only limited number of teams I was interested in playing for and the Rangers were on top of that list," Naslund said.
Naslund, who turns 35 on July 30, has signed a two-year contract with the Rangers worth $8 million.
In 82 games with the Vancouver Canucks last season, Naslund registered 25 goals and 30 assists.
"I wanted to be signing with a Cup contender," he said. "I think we’ve all seen how tight it is, the race, and it’s very difficult to pick a winner before the playoffs start. I believe that just looking at the history, the Rangers are going in the right direction and I want to be a part of that."
Kalinin, 27, notched one goals, seven assists and 32 penalty minutes in 46 games with the Buffalo Sabres last season. He's signed a one-year contract.
