Rangers still have cash to be active TheFourthPeriod.com
According to the New York Daily News, the Rangers have enough cap space to keep in the Marian Hossa and Jaromir Jagr sweepstakes.
Hossa is believed to be mulling over three or four long-term offers, reports the Daily News, and while Rangers GM Glen Sather wouldn't confirm his interest in Hossa, he did suggest the team can still be active on the free agent front.
"This doesn't take us out of the hunt for anyone yet," Sather told the newspaper. "No, we'll still be active [today]."
With the signing of defenseman Wade Redden and Michal Rozsival, the Rangers have around $10 million to spend.
If the Rangers aren't able to sign Hossa, the Daily News suggests Jaromir Jagr is still an option.
Sather wants to have Jagr back, but the team has offered him a one-year, $6 million deal, while Jagr would prefer to two-year deal.
"I talked to his agent [Tuesday] a couple of times and he said that Jaromir would wait until [today] and get back to us," Sather said. "Where he stands, I think he's waiting to see what happens with Hossa."
