Report: Lundqvist inks 6-year extension TheFourthPeriod.com
The New York Daily News is reporting that the Rangers have signed goaltender Henrik Lundqvist to a six-year contract worth more than $6.5 million.
Lundqvist, 25, was in the final year of his current contract worth $4.25 million.
The native of Are, Sweden, has posted a 24-21-5 record with a 2.37 goals-against-average and a .906 save percentage in 50 games this season.
In 173 career NHL games with the Rangers to date, Lundqvist has compiled a 91-55-22 record with a career 2.32 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage.
We're still waiting on confirmation from both the Rangers and Lundqvist's agent Don Meehan, but this is certainly something the Rangers were hoping to get done as quickly as possible.
