Bailey signs five-year contract

The New York Islanders have re-signed restricted free agent forward Josh Bailey to a five-year, $16.5 million contract

Bailey, 23, registered 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points in 38 games this past season with the Islanders.

"Josh has become an important member of the young core of the players we have in our dressing room," said Islanders GM Garth Snow. "We're excited to come to terms with him on a deal that will ensure he is a member of this team as we solidify ourselves as consistent playoff contenders."

In five years with the Islanders, Bailey has accumulated 58 goals and 81 assists for 139 points in 329 regular-season games.

The Islanders selected Bailey ninth overall in the 2008 NHL Draft.
