Coaching changes ahead in Long Island?
TheFourthPeriod.com

Off to a poor start to the season, the New York Islanders could be contemplating a chance behind the bench in the coming months.

According to the Ottawa Sun, Islanders head coach Scott Gordon might be on the hot seat and in jeopardy of losing his job if the team can't start winning consistently.

The paper claims former Carolina Hurricanes coach Peter Laviolette is a prime candidate to replace Gordon.

It's probably too early to start suggesting coaching changes. Laviolette's a great coach and he'll get a job soon enough, but nobody expected the Islanders to do wonders this season anyway. Gordon's job was to come in and help mold his young studs into quality NHLers. --David Pagnotta
