According to New York Newsday, Islanders GM Garth Snow is actively shopping veteran center Doug Weight around the league.
Citing sources, Newsday claims Snow is looking for draft picks in exchange for the 37-year-old.
Weight, who leads the Islanders with 29 points, is currently on the injured list and cannot be dealt until he's healthy to play.
Various reports suggest the Columbus Blue Jackets, who lost star rookie Derick Brassard to season-ending shoulder surgery, are among the teams interested in Weight.
While nothing appears imminent, primarily due to Weight's injury, the Islanders are fielding offers and could also look to move fellow veteran Bill Guerin, the paper suggests.
From the Editor:
It's only a matter of time before the Islanders blow things up. This team needs to. Say goodbye to Weight, Guerin, Mike Comrie, Brendan Witt, Andy Sutton, and whoever else... let the young kids play, get a better draft pick and go from there. It's not like things can get much worse. -- David Pagnotta
