Islanders sign defenseman Streit

The New York Islanders have signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Mark Streit to a five-year, $20.5 million contract.

Streit, 30, registerd 13 goals and 49 assists for 62 points in 81 games with the Montreal Canadiens last season

In 205 career NHL games, Streit has accumulated 25 goals and 109 points. He was originally selected in the ninth-round by the Habs in 2004.
