Islanders looking at Huselius? TheFourthPeriod.com
According to New York Newsday, the Islanders tried to acquire Kristian Huselius from Calgary at the trade deadline and could go after him this week.
The paper claims the trade for Huselius fell apart as there was less than 30 minutes before the deadline and the speedy winger rejected the Islanders' contract offer.
Islanders GM Garth Snow wouldn't comment on the Huselius negotiations, but indicated his team won't be going after any big-name free agents.
"We're not going to be major players on July 1," Snow told Newsday.
"We're going to kick tires, and we'll try to make our team better if it makes sense in our overall plan ... The emphasis for me is on the plan we've been talking about, which is developing our own players."
The Islanders are still expected go after Huselius tomorrow.
