Islanders sign Hunter to 5-year extension

The New York Islanders have signed right wing Trent Hunter to a five-year, $10 million contract extension.

Hunter, 27, has notched eight goals and 25 assists for 33 points in 62 games with the Islanders this season.

In 306 career NHL games, all with the Islanders, Hunter has accumulated 69 goals and 89 assists for 158 points.

Hunter was originally drafted by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the sixth-round (150th overall) in 1998.
