"Change is not always bad," Stempniak told the Toronto Sun. "I've been through it before three times. I've always sort of prepared for it.
"It's something you know is always possible."
Stempniak is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, and the Devils are believed to be contemplating trading him, along with some of his teammates like defenseman David Schlemko and forward Jordin Tootoo.
"You realize that you got traded to a team that wants you and wants you to do well," Stempniak of being dealt. "They want you to play to your strengths as an individual. Jumping in with both feet really helped me out so much more."
Several teams are looking for scoring depth heading into the playoffs and could present New Jersey with an offer involving a high draft pick for Stempniak's services.
