Tedenby heading to Sweden?

Devils left wing Mattias Tedenby may not be returning to New Jersey next season, as a report from overseas suggests he could sign with HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League.

According to Swedish media outlet Jnytt, Tedenby is being pursued by HV71, which plays in Jonkoping, Sweden.

HV71 sports director Johan Hult confirmed that he has been in touch with both Tedenby and his agent.

Tedenby, who is represented by CAA, is still under contract with the Devils through June 30 and can become a restricted free agent July 1.

"We have shown interest Mattias, but he is waiting for what happens both west and east," Hult told Jnytt. "He is at that age that both the NHL and KHL (are of interest), and we must be prepared to accept (a move from the NHL)."

Tedenby, drafted 24th overall by the Devils in 2008, registered one goal and a minus-8 rating in 15 games with the Devils this season. The 24-year-old also tallied nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points in 42 games with the Albany Devils of the AHL.
