Jagr close to staying in New Jersey
TheFourthPeriod.com

The New Jersey Devils are close to re-signing superstar right wing Jaromir Jagr to a one-year contract, according to multiple reports.

TVA Sports and the Newark Star-Ledger both claim Jagr is close to a one-year deal worth between $5 million and $6 million.

"The deal is very very close but it's not finalized yet," Jagr's agent Petr Svovoda told the Star-Ledger. "(Devils GM Lou Lamoriello) will let you know as soon as it's complete."

Jagr, 42, is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, but it appears he won't hit the open market.

In 82 games with the Devils this season, Jagr registered 24 goals and 43 assists for 67 points, along with a plus-16 rating and 46 penalty minutes.
