Brodeur open to a trade
TheFourthPeriod.com

Veteran New Jersey Devils goaltender and future Hall-of-Famer Martin Brodeur is willing to waive his no-trade clause if it's in the team's best interest.

"It's within the team's rights to try and make themselves better," Brodeur told the Newark Star-Ledger. "It's definitely something that is possible."

The 41-year-old said he would not be insulted is Devils GM Lou Lamoriello asked him to accept a trade.

Being shipped to another team could also give Brodeur the opportunity for more starts. Cory Schneider has overtaken the majority of the Devils goaltending duties within the month of January, boasting a .956 save percentage for the month.

Brodeur has made 27 starts this season, going 13-10-4, while Schneider is 9-9-7 in 25 starts for the club.

Brodeur is currently in his 21st season with the Devils. In his 21-year NHL career, he holds a .912% save percentage and 2.24 goals against average. He is currently in his final year of a two-year, $9 million contract with a cap hit of $4.5 million.

No word yet as to which teams would be interested in Brodeur if he was traded from the Devils.
