Devils searching the market

If the New Jersey Devils can add to their roster and help their playoff chances, GM Lou Lamoriello is willing to take that chance and make a move or two.

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, history suggests that Lamoriello will make a trade prior to the trade deadline.

"Let's put it this way: If we can get something to make us better, I think you know the answer," Lamoriello told the paper. "I don't think any team is as good as you'd like it to be. We're going to do everything we can to get better. But if you look back a year ago and look back at the summer, I think we have to feel pretty good about our new players."

The Devils, who would like to add help up front, are within a point of a playoff spot, right now, but Lamoriello doesn't want to keep focused on who they're chasing.

"The worst thing you can do right now is look at the standings and worry about it," Lamoriello said. "There are three-point games and you can look at the shootouts, but why waste time and energy on something?

"We have to focus and compete against ourselves, not compete against any of the other teams. We have to compete against ourselves to be the best we can and let the end result take care of itself.

"You can get distracted. Right now we have a chance to determine our own destiny. And that's the way you want it."
