Devils sign Brunner to 2-year deal

The New Jersey Devils have signed unrestricted free agent forward Damien Brunner to a two-year, $5 million contract.

Brunner, 27, signed a professional tryout agreement with the Devils on Sept. 16. and earned his new deal.

The native of Oberlunkhofen, Switzerland, posted 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points and 12 penalty minutes in 44 games with Detroit last season.

Brunner signed with the Red Wings as a free agent July 1, 2012, and began the 2012-13 campaign with EV Zug (Swiss).

In 2011-12, he was named to the Swiss National League A (NLA) All-Star Team and Forward of the Year, after leading the league with 36 assists/60 points.
