The New Jersey Devils have re-signed defenseman Johnny Oduya to a multi-year contract.
Oduya, 27, could have become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
"We are delighted to have Johnny Oduya stay with the organization," said Devils GM Lou Lamoriello. "He has developed into one of the more talented young defensemen in the National Hockey League."
Oduya posted career highs of seven goals, 22 assists and 29 points with 30 penalty minutes and played in all 82 regular-season games in 2008-09. He made his NHL debut in 2006-07 by appearing in 76 games with New Jersey.
