Report: Sutter stepping down as Devils coach

TheFourthPeriod.com

It appears as if New Jersey Devils head coach Brent Sutter will be stepping down from his post, according to several reports.

CTV Calgary, Sportsnet and the Newark Star-Ledger have all reported that Sutter will announce later today that he is resigning as coach.

Sutter was originally hired by the Devils on July 13, 2007, and coached the club to a 97-56-11 record in his two seasons behind the bench.

Prior to coaching the Devils, Sutter was the head coach for the Western Hockey League's Red Deer Rebels, which he owns.

It's believed Sutter may join his brother, Darryl, as part of the Calgary Flames organization.
