Devils could be active by deadline

TheFourthPeriod.com

The Devils could be pretty busy as the trade deadline nears, and the team has enough cap space to make moves, reports the Newark Star-Ledger.

"The next couple of weeks are very critical for a lot of teams as to whether they are in the playoff hunt or not," Devils GM Lou Lamoriello told the paper. "As far as our team goes, if we can make our team better, we will. But if nothing happens, we're very happy."

The Devils are looking to acquire a powerplay specialist and Los Angeles Kings defenseman Brad Stuart and Buffalo Sabres rearguard Brian Campbell are believed to be on the team's radar.

According to the Star-Ledger, the Devils have approximately $3.6 million in free cap space.

The paper also suggests the Kings' Ladislav Nagy and Chicago's Robert Lang are also on New Jersey's watch list.

David Pagnotta is currently returning from Washington, D.C., and is unavailable for comment.
