Goalie Pascal Leclaire retires
TheFourthPeriod.com

Goaltender Pascal Leclaire has announced his retirement during the RDS program L'Antichambre on Monday night.

Leclaire made the decision due to recurring problems with his hips.

"I tried to go back this summer and I was operated on three times in my right hip in the hope of returning, but I still have trouble today," he said on the show.

Leclaire, who celebrated his 30th birthday on Nov. 7, played his last NHL game on Dec. 16 2010. He began his career in 2003-04 with the Columbus Blue Jackets and has also played for the Ottawa Senators.

The veteran goalie is now starting a new career as an advisor, assisting young junior players on their future alongside agents Bob Perno and Stephane Fiset.

In 173 NHL games with the Jackets and the Sens, Leclaire registered a .904 save percentage and 2.89 goals-against average.
