According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Predators have been scouting the Blue Jackets "intensely lately, with assistant general manager Paul Fenton making two trips to Nationwide Arena in the last week."
Hartnell, who turns 34 on April 18, has three-years left on his contract beyond this season. His annual salary cap hit is $4.75 million, and he owns a full no-movement clause.
Drafted sixth-overall by the Predators in 2000, Hartnell will have to sign off on any trade the Blue Jackets attempt to make.
It's unclear if the Blue Jackets have approached Hartnell about waiving his no-movement clause yet, and it's unknown what type of return Columbus seeks.
The Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins are also reportedly interest in Hartnell.
