Predators talking to Roy
TheFourthPeriod.com

The Nashville Predators remain in the hunt for an upgrade at the center position and have been in negotiations with veteran Derek Roy.

Roy, 31, registered nine goals and 28 assists for 37 points in 75 games with the St. Louis Blues last season.

The Predators have also been speaking with unrestricted free agent Mike Ribeiro and tried to acquire veteran Vincent Lecavalier from the Philadelphia Flyers.

While talks with Ribeiro are ongoing, as well, trade discussions with the Flyers appear to have cooled.

Roy, an Ottawa native, has accumulated 177 goals and 315 assists for 492 points in 666 career NHL regular-season games with Buffalo, Dallas, Vancouver and St. Louis.

He was originally selected by the Sabres in the second-round, 32nd overall, of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
