Preds sign center Jokinen

The Nashville Predators have signed unrestricted free agent center Olli Jokinen to a one-year, $2.5 million contract.

Jokinen, 35, registered 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 points in 82 games with the Winnipeg Jets last season. He also collected 62 penalty minutes.

In 1,169 career NHL regular-season games with the Los Angeles Kings, New York Islanders, Florida Panthers, Phoenix Coyotes, Calgary Flames, New York Rangers and Jets.

Over the span of his career, the native of Kuopio, Finland, has accumulated 317 goals and 423 assists for 740 points, as well as 1,043 penalty minutes.

Jokinen was originally drafted third-overall by the Kings in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
