Predators trying to trade Del Zotto

If the Nashville Predators fail to trade restricted free agent defenseman Michael Del Zotto today, the team isn't expected to present him with a qualifying offer.

Del Zotto, 24, was acquired by Nashville from the New York Rangers on Jan. 22, 2014, in exchange for blueliner Kevin Klein.

In 67 games with the Rangers and Predators this past season, Del Zotto registered three goals and 13 assists for 16 points.

Predators GM David Poile indicated that Del Zotto is not in the team's plans and won't be back next season.

If the Predators fail to complete a trade involving Del Zotto, they will not qualify him, thus making him an unrestricted free agent.

The New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres and Florida Panthers are believed to be interested in Del Zotto.
