The Predators have been actively shopping center David Legwand, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
Legwand, 33, is expected to be moved by the deadline, as the Predators are looking for at least a first-round draft pick for him.
In an attempt to replace Legwand, the Predators have been on the lookout for a young center. The Predators have reportedly shown interest in Edmonton Oilers center Sam Gagner, who is on the trade block.
The Preds are believed to be dangling the likes of forward Colin Wilson and defenseman Ryan Ellis as trade bait.
Gagner, who was almost traded to the Los Angeles Kings prior to the Olympic break, has two-years left on his contract beyond this season. His no-trade clause kicks in July 1, and the Oilers are trying to move him before then.
The Kings and Oilers could look to complete a move by the trade deadline, unless another team, like the Predators, steps up for Gagner.
