TheFourthPeriod.com

Former Nashville Predators goaltender Chris Mason has decided to take his game overseas, signing a contract with Ritten Renon of the Italian Serie-A League.

Mason, 37, posted a 1-7-1 record with a 3.73 goals-against-average and a .873 save percentage in 11 games with the Predators this past season.

The native of Red Deer, Alberta, has played in 11 NHL seasons with the Predators, St. Louis Blues, Atlanta Thrashers and Winnipeg Jets, Mason has picked up a 137-113-31 record with a 2.66 goals-against-average, a .909 save percentage and 23 shutouts.

Mason was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the fifth-round (122nd overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

He replaces former Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Justin Pogge as Ritten's starting goalie.
