"I talked to (his agent) Jarrett (Bousquet) (Wednesday) and had a good conversation," Poile told the paper. "Shea and all his friends and people will be together this weekend for his charity golf tournament in his name in Sicamous (British Columbia). They're going to be doing that and then we're going to talk next week."
Poile feels that the recent talks with his captain have been constructive as he tries to focus on the importance of Weber's future in the franchise.
"It's all about talking about Shea and to see if we can get him signed to a longer-term contract with the Predators," he said. "My conversations have always been very positive with Shea, his role and his future with the organization in terms of where the franchise is going."
In 78 games with the Preds last season, Weber recorded 19 goals and 30 assists for 49 points.
