Suter playing the waiting game
TheFourthPeriod.com

While the Predators are looking to sign defenseman Ryan Suter to a contract extension before he becomes an unrestricted free agent, the blueliner is waiting on his team's potential moves to make up his mind.

According to Pierre LeBrun, who reported the news on a segment of TSN's Insider Trading, the 26-year-old wants to see what improvement the Preds can make closer to the trade deadline before he decides on whether he will extend his contract.

Suter was selected seventh overall by the Predators in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Predators GM David Poile has mentioned that he is looking to add a top-six forward, though more than eight other teams in the league are shopping for a similar addition to their lineup.

If Poile can acquire a top forward around the trade deadline, the deal could impact Suter's decision to remain a Predator.

In 45 games this season, Suter has accumulated five goals and 20 assists for 25 points, and 26 penalty minutes and is currently recovering from an upper-body injury.
