With Phil Kessel now in Toronto, the Predators must look elsewhere if they want to add some extra scoring punch to their lineup, reports the Nashville Tennessean.
The paper suggests the Predators could pursue a player from another team in the coming weeks as a number of clubs are sitting close to the NHL's salary cap.
According to various reports, the Predators offered a large package for Kessel that included a first-round draft pick and the rights to restricted free agent forward Alexander Radulov, who remains in Russia.
Predators GM David Poile hasn't hid the fact that he'd like to add a sniper to the lineup. It's unlikely the team will go after free agents Miro Satan or Nikolai Zherdev.

There aren't a lot of options for the Predators right now, which might force Poile into being fairly creative in his search. Nashville might have to wait until well into the season before making the right move. -- David Pagnotta
