Predators GM David Poile has admitted to pursuing Boston Bruins restricted free agent forward Phil Kessel, reports the Nashville Tennessean.
"I certainly believe in being aggressive and persistent and going after what I want. But I've made it clear what we can do," Poile told the paper. "It's fairly apparent what other teams are doing."
The Predators have offered a package involving draft picks and prospects for Kessel, but they're not alone in the hunt.
The Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers and Minnesota Wild are among the teams also interested in acquiring the 21-year-old sniper.
Leafs GM Brian Burke has reportedly offered two first-round draft picks and a second-round selection for Kessel.
"If (Chiarelli) gets two firsts and a second, he's getting really good compensation," Poile said. "But it is all in the eye of the beholder for a 21-year-old player who scored 36 goals."
The Bruins are expected to trade Kessel within the next week.

Chiarelli has been very busy entertaining calls and offers for Kessel. I expect a deal to go down before the end of training camp, and so far the Leafs and Predators appear to be the front runners. However, I suspect Chiarelli would need a tremendous offer to move Kessel inside his division. -- David Pagnotta
