In need of some scoring help, the Nashville Predators are reportedly shopping defenseman Dan Hamhuis in an attempt to land a top-six forward.
The Predators are second-last in the NHL in goals-scored, and their highest point-getter is JP Dumont with 34 in 46 games.
Hamhuis is making $2 million this year and next, and can become an unrestricted free agent after the 2009-10 season.
According to several published reports, the Predators are looking to deal Hamhuis for an offensive-minded forward to play on one of their top-two lines.
The Predators are also believed to be entertaining calls for center Radek Bonk and defenseman Greg de Vries.
From the Editor: Hamhuis is a very strong and capable defenseman. A lot of teams would love to get their hands on him (despite his -12 rating). Nashville needs some scoring, and bad. Losing Alexander Radulov before the season really hurt this team and they haven't been able to replace him. The problem, however, is that their having some financial issues and they may only be able to move Hamhuis for a young offensive prospect. -- David Pagnotta.
