Predators seek depth players TheFourthPeriod.com
Recent injuries to Predators forwards Jed Ortmeyer and Martin Gelinas gives GM David Poile incentive to be active on the trade market, reports the Nashville Tennessean.
Poile is supposedly trying to acquire a top-six forward and a third-line winger.
"There aren't too many top-six forwards out there, and the ones that are available come with a price that is extremely high," Poile told the newspaper. "So I'm not too optimistic we'll get a deal done at that level. But the second (option) is more of a replacement for Gelinas and Ortmeyer, that level of player. That's probably a little more realistic in terms of price and fit for our team right now."
The Predators could be after the likes of Tampa Bay's Vaclav Prospal, the New York Islanders' Ruslan Fedotenko and Los Angeles' Scott Thornton.
