Canadiens acquire Ott from Red Wings

The Montreal Canadiens have acquired center Steve Ott from the Detroit Red Wings in return for a 2018 sixth-round draft pick.

Ott, 34, suited up for 42 games with the Red Wings this season, registering three goals, three assists and 63 penalty minutes.

In 837 career NHL regular-season games with the Dallas Stars, Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues and the Red Wings, Ott has recorded 109 goals and 178 assists for 287 points and 1,538 penalty minutes.

A native of Summerside, PEI, Ott was selected in the first round, 25th overall by the Stars at the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
