Canadiens sign Montoya to 2-year extension

The Montreal Canadiens have signed goaltender Al Montoya to a two-year, $2.13 million contract extension.

In 11 games with the Canadiens so far this season, Montoya has posted a 4-4-2 record, with one shutout, 2.74 goals-against average, and a .909 save percentage.

Montoya, 31, has a 59-44-20 record in 147 career regular-season games, with a 2.61 career goals-against average, a .909 save percentage and six shutouts with the Habs, Phoenix Coyotes, New York Islanders, Winnipeg Jets and Florida Panthers.

A native of Chicago, Montoya was selected in the first round, sixth overall by the New York Rangers at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
