Habs looking to move up in draft

There are several reports suggesting the Montreal Canadiens are looking to move up from the ninth-overall spot in this month's NHL Draft.

In his latest "30 Thoughts" column on, Elliotte Friedman is the latest to report the same.

According to Friedman, the Canadiens are "another team testing the possibility of moving up."

Sources have told TFP the Habs are eyeing forwards Pierre-Luc Dubois and Logan Brown in this year's Draft, both of whom are expected to be picked higher than ninth.

Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin is exploring multiple trade scenarios, some of which also involve roster players, as he attempts to improve his club's on-ice performance for the 2016-17 campaign.

It's believed the Habs, if they remain at ninth, could also select defenseman Jakob Chychrun if he remains on the board.

Chychrun is considered by some as the most NHL-ready defenseman in this year's draft class.
