The clubs recent struggles have created a long "to do" list for Habs GM Marc Bergevin this off-season, with re-signing Norris-Trophy winning defenseman P.K. Subban as the top priority.
Habs analyst Louis Jean of TVA Sports estimates Subban is asking for a seven or eight year deal at $8 million or $8.5 million a season. Jean indicates little progress has been made in Subban's contract talks, so far.
The 24-year-old defenseman will become a restricted free agent this summer, as his two-year, $5.7 million contract expires June 30.
Subban currently has eight goals and 29 assists for 37 points this season and owns a plus-three rating.
