Subban will cost Habs

It's no secret that the Montreal Canadiens have been struggling of late. The team has gone 3-6-1 in their last 10 games, managing to hold onto an Eastern Conference wildcard spot.

Montreal saw a minor change in their lineup on Wednesday, sending defenseman Raphael Diaz to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for forward Dale Weise.

The clubs recent struggles have created a long "to do" list for Habs GM Marc Bergevin this off-season, with re-signing Norris-Trophy winning defenseman P.K. Subban as the top priority.

Habs analyst Louis Jean of TVA Sports estimates Subban is asking for a seven or eight year deal at $8 million or $8.5 million a season. Jean indicates little progress has been made in Subban's contract talks, so far.

The 24-year-old defenseman will become a restricted free agent this summer, as his two-year, $5.7 million contract expires June 30.

Subban currently has eight goals and 29 assists for 37 points this season and owns a plus-three rating.
