Habs acquire Parros from Panthers

The Montreal Canadiens have acquired right wing George Parros from the Florida Panthers in exchange for left wing Philippe Lefebvre and a 2014 seventh-round draft pick.

The seventh-round pick was Florida's properly, previously acquired during the NHL Draft on June 30, 2013.

Parros, 33, picked up one goal, one assist and 57 penalty minutes in 39 games with the Panthers in 2012-13.

Since his debut in 2005-06, Parros has totaled 35 points (18 goals, 17 assists) in 452 NHL regular season games. The 6-foot-5, 228-pound forward has served 1,007 penalty minutes. Parros has added 35 penalty minutes in 19 career NHL playoff contests.

A native of Washington, Pennsylvania, Parros was the Los Angeles Kings’ ninth pick (eighth round, 222nd overall) at the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to joining the Canadiens, Parros played with the Kings, Colorado Avalanche, Anaheim Ducks and Panthers during his NHL career.
