Habs likely to pursue trade market
TheFourthPeriod.com

The Montreal Canadiens, having already signed forward Danny Briere yesterday, are believed to be scouring the trade market more so than the free agent market.

Habs GM Marc Bergevin would like to add another top-six winger, but does not appear interested in overpaying via free agency.

The Canadiens have been linked to St. Louis Blues left wing David Perron and have kicked the tires on Winnipeg Jets sniper Evander Kane, though the price tag on Kane is not one the Habs are expected to pay.

Montreal had shown interest in free agent winger Ryane Clowe, but he's expected to sign elsewhere.

Bergevin is also looking to acquire a top-four defenseman, though it's unclear if talks with the Vancouver Canucks regarding Alexander Edler are ongoing.
