Emelin out six months

Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin underwent reconstructive surgery to his left knee (ACL & MCL), Montreal announced on their Twitter page.

Emelin, 27, will be out of action for roughly six months.

In 38 games with the Habs this season, Emelin registered three goals, nine assists and 33 penalty minutes.

Emelin was injured in the Canadiens' 2-1 win over Boston on April 6 after checking Bruins forward Milan Lucic and falling awkwardly to the ice.

Emelin was drafted by the Canadiens in the third-round (84th overall) in 2004.
