Desharnais signs in Switzerland
TheFourthPeriod.com

Montreal Canadiens center David Desharnais has jumped on board with Fribourg-Gotteron of the Swiss National A League and will play there during the NHL lockout.

Desharnais, 26, had a career year last season with the Habs, collecting 16 goals and 44 assists for 60 points and a plus-10 rating.

The Quebec City native becomes the ninth member of the Canadiens to sign overseas during the NHL lockout.

While Max Pacioretty has returned to North America following an injury, Andrei Markov, Lars Eller, Alexei Emelin, Tomas Kaberle, Yannick Weber, Raphael Diaz and Tomas Plekanec remain in various leagues overseas.
